Metals are good conductor of heat and electricity both. While heat is conducted through vibrating electrons, electricity is conducted through moving electrons. If you look closely to the structure of a molecule, you will notice that metals form Crystal lattice.

This enables them to loose electrons easily. When provided with energy (From outside source) these electrons start moving from one atom to another. Thus “sea of free electrons” is created. They are also known as “valence electrons”. More the number of valence electrons more is the electrical conductivity of a metal.
